Redvelations is a shocking and hard read for you to wake up to things are not as they seem. It makes you realize how much your own soul and Soul is fragmented possibly and you never know who you are part of and yet we know all is one thing so like duh after reading this, Sarah Jesus's and Mary Magdalene's daughter is indeed real and I knew this from Sera Beak's last book Red Hot and Holy. When I first started reading it on the first read, I would hear the name "Sarah" on TV, then during reading I FELT Sarah's pain as I KNEW I did this to my own Soul and soul as well. I actually cried when I read this book and a piece of me got mad at the Church, Roman Catholic Church that is. Being a man and reading this book has really helped me find my owl human soul that has been hidden and locked away like Sera/Sarah was and I understood by the we must all show Love Unconditional.... I Highly recommend this book to women and men alike.

This book is a vibration of truth, scintillating and slippery in description. Here's what comes to mind: When my daughter was born, she was collicky and we were both in love AND in shock, wondering WTF we'd just done to ruin our lives. Getting her to rest was an hours-long ordeal, and when she'd awaken, we felt a sense of panic..."it's ALIVE", we'd whisper to one another. 8 years later, we're just in love. This is how I feel about this book. I'm not sure I want it to awaken and wreak havoc on my life and everything that used to make sense...AND it must do just that to crack hearts and comfortable stories wide open. Leadership in the Wesleyan SpiritThis book is informative and meets the needs of the class I'm taking at Claremont School of Theology.

Lovett Weems has written a helpful book for leaders who have become frustrated with the authoritarian models of some traditional religious/business writers and/orthose who have become frustrated with the mantra of "if we just go back to...then it will be all right." One might suspect the later from the title of this book, but that is far from his approach. Weems shows that leadership in the Wesleyan spirit is not rote aplication of Wesleys writings and work to conemporary situations. He posits a hermeneutic move whereby we apply the broad general principles of the Wesleyan movement in the context of contemporary society. Generally useful to students of both leadership and Wesley studies. Highly reccomend

Superbly written. As relevant today as when first published, or even when Wesley himself first writing. Weems has a broad knowledge of history, the contect of ministry in the local church, and contemporary culture, and offers this as a beautiful gift at the intersection of all three. Reads lightly, but every page contains a quote worth capturing.

I found Dr. Weems explanation of Wesleyan leadership incredibly on target for the needs this century is bringing us.I was inspired and given a huge helping of food for thought. Ideas that I have never encountered in any other leadership or Wesleyan books. Plus its a fantastic source of interesting and powerful stories and illustrations.Dr. Weems might be a leadership genius for our generation. One dissappointment I had was that he did get bogged down in an academic catch 22. But that was only once.I strongly recommend this book for all leaders, secular and nonprofit organizations.

Finally, Keeney's On the Nature of Things offers an image of landscape architecture from the studios of American professionals. Taking a much more theoretical approach than the other two works, this book deals with a sense of the community and its interaction with nature in the many public spaces addressed. Many of the sites, in the United States and across the world, are new or still in the planning stage, and the philosophy behind their construction is the major component of this work. The final decision as to the universality of the designs and their eventual utilization remains to be seen, but the author does present an interesting aspect of the unique discipline of the architecture of our landscape, external and internal. Trying to explain/begin to introduce the concept of God to a toddler is daunting, and most books on the subject supposedly designed for young kids are either confusing or terrifying. (E.g: a different kids bible stories app we recently dl'ed that literally started, "people were so naughty that God was sorry he'd made people in the first place, so he decided to wash everyone on earth away in a giant flood." WOW.) THIS book refreshingly covers the important touchpoints of faith and God in an age-appropriate yet spiritually sound way. It's warm and emphasizes familial love and God caring so much for them, and creating them uniquely (while also deftly explaining mom and dad's earthly role in the physical carrying/delivering/caring) and also does a good job sort of covering (again in age-appropriate metaphors) the difference between heaven and earth, etc. This is a great bedtime read.

Read this to my kids tonight. I can see why other reviewers have said it brought tears to their eyes. What a special book. Reaffirms your love for them, Gods love for them, and that they were made by him. Reminds these kids they are special made for a reason and not a mistake. My three year old gave me several hugs after reading this. I think it touched him even st such a young age how loved he is. Highly recommend.

My husband and I have been blessed with two daughters. After the birth of each of them, I gave Daddy and daughter this book with a note from me on the inside. They would read the book the first night in the hospital before "bed time." Our plan is for Daddy to be able to give this to each girl when they marry just to let them know how much he and God has always loved them (and always will) - in case they ever wonder.

My granddaughter is only 20 months old, but she loves this book. She'll pull it out for me to read it to her. When I get the end of each page and say "Just in case you ever", she will always end it with "wonder". I love how she loves this book, and pray the message will resonate with her always, and she will accept Jesus as her Savior and Lord at an early age.

There are 2 pages in this book (it won't let me add photos for some reason) that are completely unnecessary. My children (4 and 6) never had any issues with "noises in the closet" or "monsters in the shadows" until we read this book - just 1 time is all it takes. I should have pre-read it, so the failure is on me, but I just wanted to warn other parents before they read it to their kids, too.

This is the perfect gift for a family with a new baby! I read this to my now 22 year old daughter when she was little and it was her and my favorite for many nights! Just a sweet, reassuring book about love! This particular version is a board book so it is very nice for the newborn and toddler.

This book was purchased for a mixed religion couple expecting their first child. Both believe in a Creator God and they want to share that faith with the child. I found the book very good for that purpose both to be read to the child and then for the child to read for him/her self. I would highly recommend it.

This is my favorite children's book of all time. I read it to our son every night, and now I give it as a gift at every baby shower. There can be nothing more important in our children's lives than reassuring them we will always love them, always be there for them, always be on their side. And as much as WE love them, it does not compare with how much GOD loves them. So powerful and positive!

Loved this book. My Dad was part of the 11th Armored Division who freed these people. Everything Wendy described, was exactly how my Dad, now 94 remembered. I don't remember him mentioning the babies, but the prisoners, the lice, and giving them l his rations was spot on. My Dad accompanied the photographer, as General Patton wanted this audacity fully documented, so that future generations would never allow something like this to happen again. When I was a child, he had a huge box of photographs - showing them digging the trenches to bury the dead, to how disgusting the kitchen was when they arrived and how quickly the army chefs cleaned it up, and started preparing meals - mainly soups as there bodies couldn't handle meals. This book should be required reading for every high school student.

Wendy managed to write a story of three young women and their lives before and through the Holocaust, when, as prisoners, while pregnant. It was not an easy task from Wendy to follow the route from the homeland or ghetto or a different concentration camp for each of these women, yet she went and visited each of these places -- and then she met with the children, or as she calls them, babies. And.. all that without a hint of pathos or a false note. I know, because I am one of the "babies" and am infinitely grateful to Wendy for telling this story of our mothers in her compassionate and realistic voice.

I am, all-at-once, left aghast, disgusted, and awestruck: aghast because these poor, innocent people were living ordinary lives, when suddenly their world was turned completely upside down. I am disgusted because the Nazis were absolutely barbaric and utterly compassionless, and it hits me so hard every time I read a novel about this oh-so-tragic time in history. And I am completely awestruck that these three women and their unborn babies survived these unspeakable crimes, and were able to persevere.This was hands-down, the most graphic book about the Holocaust I have ever read. It is a side of this abhorrent event in history that is rarely delved into: the trek of pregnant Jewish women and children, and how they were treated by the Nazis. It is something so shameful and unimaginable, that it is no wonder few authors discuss it. Kudos to the author and grandchildren of these brave women for bringing it to light.I struggled getting through this story not only because of the sheer heft of this topic, but also because of the graphic nature of this particular book. I completely understand the reality and necessity of telling the story; but it is so difficult for me to digest that anyone can be so utterly soulless as to inflict this kind of suffering on another human being.I did often seem to lose track of who was whom, as well as the timing of certain events portrayed in this book. At times, I felt as though there was a bit of an organizational issue. However, I still feel as though this is an important read, and one that I will likely never forget.

I have long been interested in the experience of the Jewish concentration camps and ghetto life that victims of the Hallocaust had to endure during the rise of Hitler and his nightmare reign. In all the books that I have read in the past, I have never felt the deep revulsion and sense of being there that I experienced in reading this account of three mothers whose stories are documented here. Throughout this accounting, the senseless cruelty, disease, decay, filthy, tattered clothing and starvation, the author somehow created a thread of hope, spiritual grace, and lightness of being which seemed woven through the tapestry of those horror-filled days. We do not ask "how could they or how did they somehow survive?" because we were right there with them, sipping swill passed off as soup, trying to sleep with no covers while lice and vermin infested our sores. With this author's great writing, the intricate pacing, the deep and thorough research, I felt that I lived it too! I cried at each kindness, lashed out at the sadism and loved the men who freed them, showing them that good could still exist.This book should be assigned reading in English and History and Ethics Classes In high schools for many years.

Staggering facts: In six years, the Nazis had killed approximately two thirds of the nine-and-a-half million Jews living in Europe, as well as millions of non-Jews. Only 300,000 of Poland's 3.3 million Jews had survived WWII. The United States eventually accepted some 400,000 refugees but denied many more access to a new life here. Unwelcome anywhere else in the world, many Polish Jews had little alternative but to return to what was by then a Soviet puppet state.With survival admittedly just a matter of luck, this entirely densely written work of non-fiction, tackled perfectly by Author Wendy Holden, takes us from the beautiful, healthy, grateful, wealthy lives of three Jewish women and their husbands and into their fearful, imprisoned, tortured, starved, sickened, unfathomable life of horrors endured in various concentration camps, German factories, and slave labor camps over Europe under Nazi rule while pregnant and miraculously postbirth. This is an exhausting story of survival, only possible due to people of compassion, mothers who fought for their lives and the lives of their babies, and thankfully American allied intervention and liberation in May 1945, "those tanks with the white stars." The rebuilding of lives where towns and sometimes entire families were destroyed is unimaginably heartbreaking. The reunions between the grown children and their aged liberators are heartbreaking and inspirational. The visiting of Mauthausen where three babies were secretly born and now are adult orphans walking arm and arm as forever 'siblings of the heart' is so incredibly empowering -- Mark, Eva and Hana. I always feel a duty to read Holocaust books; I'm relieved I have finished this one. It's amazing to hear these stories of courageous freedoms. I'm just so fiercely angry they ever had to be written at all.

Barton, born and raised in England, lives near Boulder, Colorado, where she is a research associate of the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at the University of Colorado. Her interest in animal diseases led to a career in microbiology. An award-winning cave mapper, she is interested in studying unusual ecosystems deep underground. Marfé Ferguson Delano is a freelance writer who was introduced to caving by Nancy Aulenbach and Hazel Barton. She is a graduate of Duke University and currently lives in Alexandria, Virginia.
