It should be called the The Greenhouse Grower Expert. that is to say, it talks briefly about design of green houses, and heavily about what you would do inside one that is already built- mostly about what one might grow inside such a structure.I loved The Fruit Expert, but was a bit dissappointed in teh lack of depth on design here.

This isn't a book I would necessarily sit down and read cover to cover but it is a great book for reference. The author brings a lot of experience and knowledge to the book and I am pleased to have this as a "go to" book when we run into questions with the greenhouse.

Concrete has been with us from Roman times but was forgotten for millennia and was rediscovered only recently. The physics of the material are described and the properties of reinforced steel are detailed. The author moves on to a totally different kind of item, chocolate. He discusses the history and the properties and the reader is left with a newfound appreciation for chocolate making. The next subject tackled is foam. This topic takes the reader on a slightly less immediately observable material but is a fascinating tale. The reader is introduced to a material called aerogel which sounds remarkable. The author then moves in to plastic and discusses it through the story of the inventor of plastic, it is really interesting and plastic was first being focused on commercially to fill the supply demand imbalance for billiard balls. The author then discusses glass. We are shown how it is made and where it comes from. We are introduced to both modern and ancient glassmaking and the material properties of glass. The author also talks about carbon and discusses how graphite and diamond are the same material. He discusses the crystal and molecular structure of carbon atoms and how they can form together in different structures. The author discusses pottery and introduces the reader to both clay and basic pottery but extends the discussion to modern porcelain and ceramics. The author ends the topics with a story of how he broke his leg and some aspects of materials in modern medicine. He discusses plaster and how it is a simple yet incredibly important material that has changed the nature of life and death injuries for math. He also discusses teeth and organs in reference to the 6 million dollar man to discuss what we can rebuild using todays technology.Stuff Matters introduces the reader to the basic properties of many of our most important materials used in day to day life. I have actually visited the African Game Preserve that this book is written about. I learned of it from one of my Pre-School students whose Mother knew I was working to aid the protection of White Rhinos in Africa. I immediately bought it and love it. Also recommended to my associates who are dedicated to protecting this beautiful species. I highly recommend it for parents who want to start their children young in learning about the impact we have on the animals of this world. It is sweet and a happy book.

The little rhino is so cute and the story represents a good message. I'm happy that there are books that introduce Africa to my daughter.

A great true story, children will like. Plus it gives a good conservation message.

The story begins with Anna Merz who longed to give the rhinos of Africa a safe place to live. When one of the baby rhinos was being neglected by its mother, Anna knew she had to take the baby home or it wouldn't live.Samia and Anna spent so much time together! This book takes you through the day and life of Anna and Samia. With rhinos in so much danger, it's wonderful knowing that there are people like Anna Merz offering a sanctuary for endangered African animals.Finding out about the real Anna Merz through the author's note was absolutely wonderful. Great book!

My wife and I received a smoothie maker as a gift this summer. I then had the same smoothie made for me for about two months straight. In an effort to expand our horizons, we bought a smoothie recipe book and it's been such a treat. Not only is there great information about the benefits of drinking smoothies but there are so many recipes here that I don't think we'll ever get to them all. One of my favorites is the Pineapple and Kiwi Smoothie, followed by the Orange-Berries Smoothie. Great flavors, aromas and colors!

For someone just starting out, I like to know what might go well together. This book makes it Easy to get some ideas and Also to make your own substitutions. The only thing that would make it better would be a list of ingredients in the index that takes you to specific recipies, or let you search for ingredients that have specific benefits.

All of these recipes look so good. You may not want any carbonated drinks after looking at this book! Yum!

Very disappointed. The book has no calorie info. Does not give specific times to do certain things. Also I ordered it for specific type of recipes it basically is one list of recipes. There is no breakdown of types. No index to look up for specific reasons or ingredients.

Haven't tried many but just looking gives me so many more choices.

Nice book! However, to be fair I haven’t made anything from the book yet. I will do so very soon.

A great read written by Danielle Steel,This short story brought tears to my eyes .Don't want to give to much of the story away but If everyone was like Danielle Steel this would be a much better world. To reach out and help the less fortunate I applaud her though what she did wasn't a solution but rather went above and beyond to make sure these people were warm ,feed ,and gave them hope and for them to know someone out there cares for them and believes in them is awesome .Not all of us have the funds to do what she did but anything a pair of socks ,a hat ,gloves even one little thing even just a smile and a hug or an ear to listen to bring hope to the less unfortunate. And yes my family and I do contribute what we can to be of help my not be a lot but its something.One more thing I always save those Hotel samples of soaps shampoos etc to donate to the local shealter.

I enjoyed reading about how Danielle Steel spent 11 years helping the homeless people. She is a remarkable woman. The remarkable thing is that she used her own money to pay for all the supplies she gave to the homeless people. There are not many people that would use their own money. I highly recommend reading this book.

Ever wonder what some "celebrities" do in their spare time! We hear of the foundations and millions some donate to various causes. In this book Danielle Steel shares one of her "causes" and how she became "boots on the ground" addressing the homeless situation. Ms. Steele does not whitewash the dangers of her actions, nor the seriousness of the situation. Perhaps one of the most interesting insights in the book is how the homeless reacted to her efforts.... often with gratitude. If you enjoy reading Danille Steele's novels, this is an excellent look into her real life experience with the homeless. A wonderful way to get learn a bit about those who are homeless, putting somewhat of a face to the faceless homeless population in our midst.

The mark of a great humanitarian in my book? Someone who does good deeds and doesn't brag about them. Therefore, I found this book to be one big homage of the author by the author. Her idea was probably great! But why does she have to brag about it? Where does the profit from this book go? Into her coffers or those of some homeless organization? Why did she not continue her work either by funding others to continue or continuing herself? What did the other homeless organizations in San Francisco feel about her actions? Why weren't they represented here, even briefly? Too many questions, not many answers.One more question: Why not use her experiences in one of her novels instead of writing pages and pages on how wonderful she was?

My heart goes out to all the homeless people throughout our country and I'm so glad to see that Danielle Steel is taking part in helping these lonely, sad and lost folks. This book brought tears to my eyes in places and brings home the point of always doing what we can to try and help others who are less fortunate. With our economy the way it is, nobody ever knows how our lives can change and we could be put into this situation ourselves. Reading this book made me more determined than ever to do more to help the homeless of our country.
