Thiss book was used along with the lectures and personal comments in a class for the Ecannon Valley Elder Collegium. It added to the instructor's presentation and helpd us get a clearer view of Japan in the post WW II years.

I am not Jewish, but have eaten a lot of food with my friends who are. I think this is a good cookbookwith old and new recipes that are easy enough to understand and prepare. A friend is eying my copyand I may have to get her one for a gift. We tried the orange chicken recipe and the family loved it. Iwill be trying some more later. This is a cookbook that does not require a lot of weird ingredients youhave to get in specialty shops which is something I appreciate. It is well written and the stories aregreat. It has a nice, homey feel to it and that adds to the appeal.

As a serious home baker and cookbook collector, I have certain expectations of any cookbook I bring home. Not only because my shelf space is limited, but because I only like to own cookbooks that I plan to use. This is not a coffee table book that just sits and collects dusts; you will want to throw on your apron and cook and bake your way through every page! Bubbe and Me in the Kitchen is fantastic for several reasons and checks all the boxes of what I'm looking for in a cookbook.First, the layout is perfect. I'm very particular about the way recipes are laid out, and it drives me crazy when the ingredients and instructions aren't in a user-friendly layout or font. But this cookbook makes it extremely easy to follow a recipe.I also love the types of recipes in this book because they're just unique enough to complement my already large recipe collection, without being so weird that I can't find the ingredients or wouldn't be able to satisfy my guests' appetites. There are cute and/or interesting anecdotes before each recipe, along with helpful tips. I can't wait to make the rye soft pretzels with raspberry mustard. And the apricot pistachio babka is incredible. The maple Dijon-glazed brussels sprouts are on my short list to make soon, and the butternut purée with roasted garlic and ginger is easy and heavenly. The photos in the book are appetizing, and in color.The author's writing style is friendly and fun, and overall, I get a very good feeling about this book!Also, worth noting that while this book is a kosher cookbook, the recipes can be enjoyed by anyone! I do not keep strict kosher, and it would be very, very simple for me to swap out soy milk in a recipe with real milk, or change out other ingredients the author suggested for kosher reasons, since I don't need to use those alternatives.Get this book! Two big thumbs up!

I have a lot of "modern" Jewish cookbooks, and this is my new favorite! I made a few of the recipes for this year's seder, and each was better than the next. The Matzah Spanakopita was described by one of my guests as a "showstopper". The veggie broth was rich and tasty. The Cauliflower Cous Cous was unique and light--something hard to find in Passover dishes.I will be buying this for everyone who cooks in my family. Great book!

It's kind of old now (since it's published in 2002) but in no way obsolete :)It's a great little book about the sport I love. It covers all aspects of snowboarding and gives a good look on the history of this amazing sport.The only downside is probably the fact that it does not have many pages, I bet there are many books about skiing and I'm glad there is at least one about snowboarding and I will pass it on to my grandchildren :)

These cards are great and very informative. I love that the most "essential" information about each drug is bolded which makes it easier for fast studying and cramming. The vignettes are made very obvious which is, in my opinion, a great thing as it helps you remember the drug even better.But there are two flaws I can think of that you may want to consider before buying.First, these are not hole-punched so you may want to do that first unless you want to risk these flying all over the place. That wouldn't be an issue if they were color-coded by category of drug, but other than the card number shown at the bottom of each card, there's no quick way to organize these at a glance.Second, the very obvious card number at the bottom might be an issue for you if you are a very visual-recall type of learner like I am, as you will likely start to associate the number of the card with the information about the drug as opposed to just the drug. It's not in a location that's easy to cover with your thumb - instead it's right smack dab in the middle of the card at the bottom.

I'm a 2nd year med student aiming for good grades in class and a killer board score. Here's what I like and don't like about this product:PROS: I do enjoy having "Everything you need to know about a drug one convenient card!". I also love that these are the same thickness as regular paper, not bulky/heavy cardstock like many other pharm decks out there. My backpack is heavy enough already. The organization of this deck is also pretty stellar.CONS: I wish that instead of having one card for each drug CLASS, they would expand the deck into a card for each DRUG (some classes of drug have a dozen individual drugs within them with slightly different uses and AEs. I thought that these would be helpful for quizzing and reviewing, but ultimately I just use them as a study aid the same way I use class notes and textbooks. I've found a few typos already and I'm only about 1/5th of the way through my deck--would have expected better proofreading from McGraw Hill/Lange.

The flashcard content is excellent. However, the Kindle edition does not provide for self study (testing yourself as if they were flashcards). The continuous format will show half of the reverse side of the card on the same page as the front side. Kindle has no fix for this. If you are deciding between the kindle or print version, I would highly recommend the print version...

Wish they had more than one case on the front. Maybe in smaller font in different colors to distinguish each case from the other. You eventually know the med from seeing the same case

These are excellent cards! They have color photos and diagrams, and are grouped nicely. They also have a hole punch in the top corner, so you can keep them on a ring, or break them down into smaller groups for rings. The information on the card is very useful. I am using these to study with my pharmacology sets.

Lovely cards! I wish they were hold punched or something with a binder ring, so I’ll have to DIY that lol! But I love the format! Much better for testing myself rather than having a summary card. Case on the front, the answer + info on the back. Thank you!

Great study aid for pharmacology. The clinical vignette helped with recognizing clinical scenarios. I recommend highlighting and underlining things as your courses require.

The cards are case based, but the cases sometimes don't seem very thoughtful or specific.

About the Author

Dr. Challa S.S.R. Kumar is currently with Harvard University as a Managing Director. He was previously the Director of Nanofabrication and Nanomaterials at the Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, USA. He is also President and CEO of Magnano Technologies and has some years of industrial R&D experience working for Imperial Chemical Industries and United Breweries. His main research interests are the development of novel synthetic methods, including those based on microfluidic reactors, for the synthesis of multifunctional nanomaterials. Dr. Kumar is the winner of the 2006 Nano 50 Technology Award for his work in magnetic-based nanoparticles for cancer imaging and treatment.
